KARACHI: The first total lunar eclipse of the year will occur tomorrow (Friday) when the moon enters the penumbra, or the outer part of Earth’s shadow.
The moon will appear slightly dimmer than usual. However, the effect will be so subtle that it may be difficult to notice.
According to the Meteorological Department, the eclipse will begin at 8:57 AM, with the moon reaching total eclipse at 11:26 AM.
The department further stated that the eclipse will peak at 11:59 AM and conclude by 3:00 PM. However, the lunar eclipse will not be visible in Pakistan.

The phenomenon can be observed in Europe, several Asian countries, most parts of Australia, Africa, and North and South America.
A total lunar eclipse occurs when Earth is precisely between the sun and moon, and the moon passes through Earth’s inner shadow, or the umbra.
