KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Speaker Awais Qadir Shah allowed for the resolution against the federal government’s decision to draw six new canals from Indus River. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presented the resolution in the assembly.
The bill proposed that the assembly rejects the decision to draw new canals. In his speech, the chief minister said that Sindh’s constitutional rights are being violated. “We will not give Sindh’s water to anyone. The federal government’s plan to build six new canals is unacceptable.”

CM Shah said, “We have always raised the voice of the people of Sindh. The construction of new canals is illegal. We will protest together with the people of Sindh.” He added that these canals would negatively impact the province’s wildlife and agriculture.
“No such plan will be approved that leads to water shortage,” CM Murad Ali Shah said.
