Two Islamabad police sub-inspectors dismissed over gross misconduct – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza has dismissed two sub-inspectors from service on charges of inefficiency, misconduct, and spreading propaganda against senior officers, according to official orders issued on Tuesday.

The officers — Sub-Inspector Asif Hayat Khan (ID-558) and Sub-Inspector Ishtiaq Hussain (ID-548) — were found guilty of repeatedly failing to complete important assigned tasks, creating embarrassing situations for the department, and undermining their superiors through internal propaganda, the orders said.

An inquiry conducted by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) for Investigations and Complaints found that both officers had a history of poor performance despite serving in various units of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.

Their recent performance was deemed unsatisfactory, and repeated directives to improve had gone unheeded, the inquiry report noted.

The report also cited confidential findings that said both officers were involved in spreading negative propaganda against senior officers, which affected the morale and discipline of other police personnel.

Following the inquiry and after hearing the officers in person, the inquiry officer recommended “major punishment” against them.

Subsequently, DIG Syed Ali Raza awarded both officers the penalty of “Dismissal from Service” with immediate effect under the Punjab Police (E&D) Rules, 1975, as adopted by the ICT Police.

The dismissals were based on show-cause notices issued on February 22, 2025 — No. 916/E-1 for Asif Hayat Khan and No. 917/E-1 for Ishtiaq Hussain.

The orders highlighted their consistent failure to meet the expectations of their superiors and their alleged attempts to exert external pressure for personal gains.

The Islamabad police said the actions reflect the department’s commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability within its ranks.
