KP govt gets two months to decide on thalassemia test in marriage certificate – HUM News


PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) heard the case regarding making thalassemia test mandatory in marriage certificate. The court issued a written order of previous hearing.

In response, the provincial government has sought two-months’ time to make test mandatory in marriage certificate.

The court said in the order that the Additional Advocate General had informed the court that the matter is already under consideration. Local government has sent summary to Law Department regarding amendment in marriage certificate, the PHC order said.

The PHC noted that the Additional Advocate General also said that the government will take a decision on the matter in two months.

The lawyers elaborated that a clause for marital blood test should be included in marriage certificate.
