KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamram Tessori expressed disappointment over Pakistan Cricket team’s performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against team India yesterday. “Getting an IMF loan has become easier that Pakistan making it to the next round of the tournament,” the governor said after the loss.
POLITICIANS FUME OVER POOR PERFORMANCE
Kamran Tessori said, “Batting line was in disarray, bowlers were trembling. All joy of the game was ruined watching it.” He said that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman spent so much effort building stadiums, “he should have built a team like that too.”

Tessori said that Pakistan needs skilled batters and fielders. “Once the team is built with the highest standards, the fans will never be disappointed,” he added.
The governor lamented that it would have been reason for great joy if the team had won. “I would have rewarded them with PKR10 million. I would have repeated the same history as I did when Arshad Nadeem won [the Olympics medal]”.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari also shared her disappointment over Pakistan’s performance. “The batting and bowling of the national team players were very disappointing. The team is deprived of both bowling and batting,” she said, adding that the on same pitch that was “very difficult” for our team, other teams played easily.
Heartbroken, she said, “Now the world class teams will play in the tournament. We are done.”

Commentator and former captain Wasim Akram also weighed in, and said that the team was given the chance of change the squad for playing against India. “The captain is also at fault here. You have to choose your team according to its performance.”
“It is everyone’s fault. What were the selectors thinking when they picked the squad? Khushdil Shah or Salman Agha cannot dismiss batsmen like Kohli and Gill,” Wasim Akram said.

Coach and commentator Waqar Younis said, “Pakistan has to bring discipline. Indian bowlers were also bowling the same balls but they were disciplined.”
He said, “We are all saying that Saud Shakeel played well but ODI cricket is going in the wrong direction. Saud and Rizwan played a 24-over partnership but there were 19 overs in which only four or five runs were given.”
Former Indian cricketer Nikhil Chopra said, “Indian bowlers did not let Pakistani batsmen gain momentum.”
CAPTAIN ACCEPTS MISTAKES, BUT TOO LITTLE TOO LATE
“We lost more wickets due to wrong shot selection,” Skipper Mohammad Rizwan said, adding that “There was also pressure. We tried to play well in the mid-innings.”

He said that Pakistan needs to improve fielding. “We dropped a lot of catches. The same thing happened in the last match too. The same mistake is happening again and again,” Rizwan said.
