Champions Trophy route plan: Islamabad CTO warns of traffic rush

ISLAMABAD: “Citizens should leave their homes with an extra 20 minutes to avoid travel difficulties,” warned Islamabad Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain Zeeshan Haider.

The CTO said that traffic on Srinagar Highway will remain slow due to the route. Champions Trophy 2025 matches are scheduled to be held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on February 24, 25 and 27. The capital city traffic police has issued the route plan to provide security for the matches and to facilitate the denizens of the city.

The CTO said that citizens should use various underpasses and connected service roads to travel in Islamabad. “Islamabad Traffic Police will be present at various locations to guide citizens,” he added.

The traffic police advise that Club Road from Convention Center should be used to go to Faizabad from Red Zone. Likewise, Islam Chowk Bridge and IJP Road will remain open during the route.

The CTO’s advisory informed that traffic coming from B-17, B-15, H-13, G-13 and G-14 to Blue Area or F-6 can use Margalla Road. For travel towards Blue Area, 9th Avenue and H-8 underpass can be used.

Traffic from Barakahu to F-6 and Blue Area can come from Convention Center, Radio Pakistan stop, NADRA, Islamabad Traffic Police said. Alternatively, Margalla Road, NADRA, Marriott and Express Chowk can be used to reach Barakahu.

Traffic going from Zero Point to Park Road should use Shakar Parian Road, the CTO said.

For any problems and guidance during travel, Islamabad Traffic Police Traffic Helpline 1915 can be used, as well as Traffic Police’s social media platform. Both platforms are available to inform citizens about traffic routes in a timely manner, Islamabad Traffic Police said.
