Amid controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash or transfer an FIR filed against him in Guwahati.
The case, linked to allegedly promoting obscenity in an online show, has also named Ranveer as the prime accused due to his contentious comments on India’s Got Latent. The plea is scheduled for a hearing on Friday before a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh.
According to PTI, Ashish has requested the court to “quash the FIR bearing No. 03 of 2025 registered at Cyber PS Police Commissionerate, Guwahati Crime Branch, Assam, as it was registered later.” Alternatively, he seeks a transfer to Mumbai, citing that “FIR bearing No. 05 of 2025, registered at Mumbai Police Station Nodal Cyber, Mumbai was registered first.”
On Tuesday, the Gauhati High Court granted Ashish interim bail, instructing him to appear before investigators within 10 days. His lawyers argued that he had made no remarks during the show, and the allegations only targeted his co-accused.
Meanwhile, on February 18, the Supreme Court granted interim protection to Ranveer, calling his remarks “vulgar” and stating he had a “dirty mind” that “put society to shame.”
