However, the makers initially did not approach Manoj Bajpayee for the lead role. They first offered it to Akshaye Khanna, who turned it down, before eventually casting Bajpayee.
Reports suggest that the creators initially envisioned Akshaye Khanna in the lead role. In November 2017, sources revealed that Khanna was in talks to headline the series, which was described as a socio-political thriller.
Budgetary constraints and Khanna’s substantial fee prevented the collaboration from materializing. As a result, in December 2017, the makers approached Manoj Bajpayee, who ultimately took on the role of Srikant Tiwari.
