Earlier, Imran Khan had sent a letter to the army chief, but security sources claimed that no such letter had been received and, even if it existed, the establishment had no interest in acknowledging it. They said that any political discussions should take place among politicians, as the establishment had already made its stance clear.
Faisal Chaudhry said that the PTI founder reiterated the demand for the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9. He also criticized the ongoing crackdown in Punjab stating that police in Wazirabad had not even allowed PTI workers to hold funeral prayers for a deceased party member.
Chaudhry said that Imran Khan and other PTI leaders appeared in the GHQ case today.
He said that Insaf Lawyers Forum President Intizar Panjotha was denied entry into Adiala jail, while lawyers were being prevented from attending trial proceedings.
He also alleged selective access for journalists and announced PTI’s intent to file a request for an open trial in the GHQ case. He said that after the 26th amendment, the judicial system had collapsed.
