KP Governor: Solar System Only Solution to Address Energy Shortage
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, emphasized on Saturday that transitioning to solar energy is the only viable solution to overcome Pakistan’s ongoing energy crisis. He highlighted the country’s shift towards solarization to meet its power needs.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Knox Mega Mind-2025 ceremony, he praised Knox, a leading solar inverter company, for its efforts in producing high-standard inverters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He commended the company’s management and organizers for hosting a successful event.
Governor Kundi pointed out that Pakistan faces a severe energy shortage, making electricity tariffs unaffordable for the common man. This situation has led to widespread power theft. He stressed that solar energy is a much cheaper and more accessible alternative compared to hydropower.
He further noted that many consumers are installing solar systems to benefit from cost-effective energy during daylight hours, reaffirming that solarization is the only sustainable solution to the country’s power shortfall.
Highlighting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s natural resources, including oil, gas, and minerals, he stated that the province is one of the largest oil producers. He added “The climate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is more ideal for solar energy production comparatively to Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)”
Governor Kundi also welcomed the Chinese delegation attending the event, acknowledging China’s investment in Pakistan’s energy sector and its commitment to the country’s development and stability.
On this occasion, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, also lauded Knox for its contributions and expressed hope that the company would expand its operations to GB.
As a token of appreciation, the Knox management presented souvenirs to Faisal Karim Kundi and Syed Mehdi Shah. Both governors were also honored with awards for being among the top Knox solar company sellers.
