ISLAMABAD: Onijah Andrew Robinson, an American woman who travelled to Karachi to marry a Pakistani teenager whom she met online, left Pakistan on Friday night, returning to the United States (US).
Onijah Andrew Robinson, 33, who has two children, flew from New York to Karachi to meet 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon. Nidal’s family did not approve of the marriage, leaving the US woman stranded in Karachi with an expired visa.
Onijah had refused to leave and camped outside Nidal’s Karachi house, which she found locked and abandoned. She also started demanding money from Nidal and the Pakistani government.
According to media reports, Onijah departed from Karachi airport at 10:40 PM under the supervision of US Consulate and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials. Robinson is expected to arrive in New York on February 8.
