PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has postponed the annual matriculation examinations.
The examinations will now be held after the month of Ramzan, said a spokesperson for the Peshawar Education Board.
The examinations have been postponed to facilitate students during the holy month of fasting, the Peshawar Education Board said. The matriculation examinations of the Peshawar Education Board were to begin from March 5.
CSS EXAMS STILL IN LIMBO
Meanwhile, the civil service examination, Central Superior Service (CSS), that were scheduled to be held in February still seem to be uncertain. The results for the written examination of CSS 2024 exams have not yet been issued, which led certain parties to approach the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to delay the 2025 written exams.
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) – the authority responsible for conducting the annual exams among other tests for civil service – is yet to announce the results of last year’s exams. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, presiding over the case hearing, has directed the FPSC Chairman to hear the petitioners’ concerns and issue a decision on the CSS 2024 results by February 6 (tomorrow).
In earlier hearings, the IHC had said that issue falls under the purview of the FPSC and the court does not intend to interfere. The Assistant Attorney General Usman Ghumman representing FPSC said that due to extra workload, the results have been delayed but the FPSC has tried to keep the examination schedule unaffected. He assured the court that qualifiers of 2024 exam will be given precedence over the successful candidates of 2025 examination.
In the latest hearing, however, the IHC has issued orders for the FPSC to announce a decision by Thursday.
