Teenage boy allegedly gang-raped in Skardu


GILGIT: A teenage boy was allegedly gang-raped by four men within the jurisdiction of Hussainabad Police Station in Skardu district, Gilgit-Baltistan, a district police spokesperson said on Tuesday. 

According to police officials, the 18-year-old boy approached Hussainabad Police Station with the complaint that he was subjected to gang rape after being abducted in a vehicle by four men near his residence in Hussainabad on Monday night.

Police have registered a first information report (FIR) of the incident and arrested all four suspects nominated by the victim in his complaint. A medical examination of the victim has also been done.

Speaking to HUM News English, district police spokesperson Ghulam Muhammad Shuja said police acted swiftly and were able to apprehend the accused men soon after the complaint was filed. The spokesperson said the victim, currently living with his uncle, comes from a family where his parents are divorced. 

“The Skardu Police are investigating the case with strict adherence to legal protocols. All due process will be followed, and the case will be presented before a competent court to ensure justice for the victim, in line with directives from higher authorities,” the spokesperson emphasized.

In September last year, a 16-year-old boy was allegedly raped by two men in the remote Balkolti village of Yasin Valley in Ghizer district, Gilgit-Baltistan.

Later in December, a session court in Ghakuch granted bail to two suspects accused of raping the teenage boy.

A single-member bench of Sessions Judge Lukman Hakim approved the bail against bonds of Rs500,000 with two local sureties each.
