Assistant commissioner among three injured in Kurram attack – HUM News


UPPER KURRUM: Assistant Commissioner for Revenue Saeed Manan Khan and three other individuals were injured on Friday in a firing incident in Upper Kurram Tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The assistant commissioner, accompanied by police officials, along with other officials was visiting the area to enforce the peace deal earlier brokered between two warring tribes. The incident occurred in the Boshahara area of Upper Kurram.

A Turi tribe elder confirmed the incident, saying, “The assistant commissioner was on a mission to enforce the peace deal in the area to ensure peace.”

He was promptly taken to the Parachinar district headquarters hospital where he underwent surgery.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to launch an operation against terrorists in Lower Kurram after a deadly attack on an aid convoy delivering food and medicines to the area.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurram issued a notification on Saturday.

The convoy, comprising 33 vehicles delivering supplies including rice, flour, and cooking oil, along with essential medicines for local traders, was attacked and the mutilated bodies of four missing drivers from the aid convoy were discovered in the Urwali area of Lower Kurram.

The victims were found with their hands tied behind their backs and had been shot. Their bodies were taken to a hospital for identification and legal procedures.

Intelligence-based operations will be conducted in Bagan, Mandori Ochat, Charkhel Chapri due to several incidents of terrorism in these areas in recent months, according to DC Kurram.
