The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday, announced to introduce the Fans’ Choice Awards to celebrate nine years of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) success.
According to the cricket board, both local and foreign players, who have featured in the previous editions of the marquee league will be nominated and nominations will then be opened for voting.
The nominations would be categorized in six categories: best batter, best bowler, best all-rounder, Most Valuable Player (MVP), best individual batting and best individual bowling.
After the nomination, the decision rests entirely on the fans as the player receiving the most number of votes in each category, will be adjudged as the winner at the highly-anticipated players draft, scheduled to be held in Gwadar, Balochistan on January 11, 2025.
Chief Executive Officer of the PSL, Salman Naseer, in a PCB-released statement, termed the fans as the epitome of the league’s success over the years and shared that the newly-introduced awards will recognise their passion and dedication.
“The HBL PSL’s long and successful journey could not have been possible without the firm support of our loyal fans, who are an integral stakeholder in the success of this league. The Fans’ Choice Awards are our way of recognising their passion and dedication, providing them with a platform to recognise their favourite players and moments as we celebrate the very best of HBL PSL together.
“We all know there have been breathtaking performances and unforgettable moments throughout the history of this league. The Fans’ Choice Awards aim to showcase what makes the HBL PSL truly special, a tribute to the players who inspire and the fans who cheer them on.”
The 10th edition of the marquee league is set to run from April 9 to May 19 next year.
