When we were facing court cases, we didn’t beg to be released: Ahsan Iqbal – HUM News

ISLAMABAD: “It is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people,” Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said while speaking to media.

“The record of the group that repeatedly called for protests and sit-ins is in front of everyone,” Ahsan Iqbal said, adding, “After the May 9 incident, no good can be expected from [Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf] PTI”.

The minister said that the government is taking steps to thwart the intentions of the miscreants.

“I hope their plans of creating unrest fail. What is the ultimate reason for committing this mischief?” he said. “The purpose of their protest is to try to get NRO,” Ahsan Iqbal added.

The planning minister said that Imran Khan is not under arrest on the orders of any DC. He is facing court and legal cases. “During the PTI era, false cases were filed against us. We faced the courts here and all the cases were proven to be false. We did not ask the government of Imran Khan to release us”.

“There is undeniable evidence in Toshakhana and Al-Qadir Trust,” Iqbal said, adding that Imran Khan and other PTI leaders are using delaying tactics. Bushra Bibi is not appearing in courts after bail, he said.

The minister said that there is no system in the country that can offer pardon outside scope of law. “If you are convicted, then only the President can pardon the sentence”.

He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has no concern for the situation in Kurram. “Instead of maintaining law and order, government resources are being used for protests,” Ahsan Iqbal said. Gandapur should leave protest and go to Kurram, he said.

“PTI has failed in their drama and things will return to normal,” Ahsan Iqbal said.
