PM Shehbaz demands Israel’s accountability over Gaza genocide – HUM News

RIYADH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday condemned Israel’s ongoing occupation and aggression in Palestine and Gaza, accusing it of committing genocide against the Palestinian people.

Speaking at the “Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit” in Riyadh, Sharif highlighted the importance of the gathering to address the crisis in Palestine, commending Saudi Arabia’s efforts in championing the Palestinian cause. “I welcome all members attending this extraordinary meeting,” he said.

The summit saw leaders from across the Muslim world come together to address the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and to unite in support of Palestinian rights, reinforcing their shared commitment to regional peace.

Sharif criticized Israel’s disregard for international law, calling for an immediate ceasefire. “Israel’s actions are blatant violations of international norms, and Pakistan stands firmly with Palestine in this difficult time,” he said.

“Gaza has borne the brunt of extreme Israeli aggression, with thousands martyred and millions displaced. Palestinian access to aid must be immediate.”

Sharif called for the establishment of a free and independent Palestinian state and condemned Israel’s use of aid freezes as a weapon.

He urged that essential, uninterrupted aid reach Palestinian civilians and called for an arms embargo on Israel.

“Israel’s expansionist policies are destabilising peace, and it must face accountability for its actions,” he said.

Addressing broader regional concerns, Sharif expressed serious apprehension over Israel’s actions against Iran. He emphasised that the International Court of Justice’s rulings on Gaza must be enforced, and Israel should face justice for alleged war crimes. “The voices raised here must be put into action,” he concluded. “We pray that the day of freedom for the Palestinian people arrives soon.
