“Singham Again” star Ajay Devgn and director Rohit Shetty are not only iconic professional collaborators but also best friends in real life. Recently, the actor opened up about his fights during his younger years, while Shetty shared interesting anecdotes. Devgn also compared today’s actors to yesteryear stars, calling the current generation of actors “boys.”
In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty were asked if they ever indulged in fun. In response, the director explained that their idea of fun was different from what it is today.
Ajay remarked that because of gadgets and mobile phones, today’s generation has missed out on real-life experiences. “In today’s world, you don’t see the dominating male personality. All are boys; you don’t see ‘men-men’. In the earlier generation, we saw men—even in my generation, from Jackie Shroff to Amitabh Bachchan, they were all men.”
Building on Ajay’s comment, Shetty gave examples of Akshay Kumar thrashing ten people or Sunny Deol pulling out a hand pump. He pointed out that these actions looked real, and audiences would clap because they believed the actors could do it.
Further reflecting on why he considers the current generation of actors “boys,” the “Drishyam” actor stated, “There’s been a change in upbringing, and you don’t become a man just by building a body. There’s an attitude and approach toward life that’s missing.”
In the same conversation, Rohit compared the kind of fun people had in the past to today’s times. He pointed out that social media now cancels people, which wasn’t the case before.
Recalling humorous memories from the past, the Chennai Express director revealed, “There’ve been times I can’t tell you details, we got a call that he (Ajay) has gone to beat up someone and there was a car behind him, a chase is going on in Mumbai city to stop him.”
With a sly smile, Devgn accepted the comment but dodged the conversation, stating that he wouldn’t want to discuss it further. Meanwhile, the director recalled how they used soda bottles during their fights, shaking them so they would explode. When asked if the actor had ever used a weapon, Shetty mentioned using hockey sticks.
Ajay agreed, stating that they would keep the hockey sticks in their car. When asked if he still fights, Ajay said he has become calm like everyone else. He explained that he doesn’t fight anymore, considering it a waste of time. He avoids fights, feeling sorry for the person, thinking they would eventually get hit.
Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty have collaborated on several superhit films, including the “Golmaal” franchise, “Sunday”, “All The Best”, and “Bol Bachchan”, among others. Their latest project is the fifth installment in the “Singham” cop-verse, “Singham Again”.
Led by Ajay Devgn, the hardcore action entertainer also stars Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor in key roles. The movie, which draws close references to the Hindu mythology, “Ramayana”, debuted in theaters on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, November 1.
According to source box-office analysis, “Singham Again”, which is performing successfully in theaters, has earned almost Rs 180 crore, including its Saturday collections. By the end of the weekend, it is expected to surpass Rs 190 crore.
