Chinese PM vows to deepen strategic ties in meeting with President Zardari – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari, in which both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening strategic cooperation in key areas, including the economy, investment, and regional connectivity.

Both sides emphasised the need to accelerate the implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, with President Zardari highlighting the importance of enhancing connectivity through all-weather roads to strengthen commercial and public ties.

President Zardari stressed the significance of exploring new avenues of cooperation and encouraged Chinese companies to invest in Pakistan. He also expressed optimism about leveraging China’s economic growth through initiatives like CPEC and Gwadar Port.

The President also announced plans to visit China in November to reconnect with old friends and further strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, President Zardari extended his condolences for the deaths of two Chinese citizens in a recent terrorist attack, condemning those who target Pakistan-China relations and vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s gratitude for China’s unwavering support on important issues, including Jammu and Kashmir.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang praised Pakistan’s steadfast support for China on core issues such as Taiwan, Tibet, and the South China Sea. He acknowledged President Zardari’s role in promoting strong ties between the two nations and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty and prosperity.

Both leaders expressed confidence that Pakistan-China strategic cooperation would continue to flourish under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.
