Preparations completed, PM Sharif to chair SCO summit tomorrow – HUM News


ISLAMABAD: Preparations have been completed for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting, set to take place in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the high-level summit, which will bring together several key leaders from across the region.

Most of the participating delegations have already arrived in the capital. Among the attendees will be the Prime Ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, the Vice President of Iran and the Foreign Minister of India are confirmed to participate, while the Prime Minister of Mongolia and the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan will also join, with the latter attending as a special guest.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, who will be visiting Pakistan for four days, is expected to engage in a series of diplomatic talks, including delegation-level negotiations aimed at strengthening ties in sectors such as economy, trade, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

During his visit, he will also meet with Pakistan’s President, parliamentary leaders, and top military officials to discuss a range of bilateral and regional matters.

The summit will focus on fostering cooperation in key areas and is seen as an important opportunity to further enhance partnerships within the SCO framework.
