Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda’s accidental self-shooting incident has taken a new turn after he recorded his first police statement.
According to Indian media reports, local authorities have not been convinced by his explanation even after ruling out foul play on the basis of preliminary evidence.
The actor was taken to a hospital immediately after he allegedly injured his leg cleaning his licensed revolver at his Mumbai home in Juhu. Govinda stated in his first statement to police that the 20-year-old revolver had been unlocked when it unexpectedly fired, striking his leg slightly below the knee.
Govinda’s story, though, has not convinced investigators, who might call him in for more interrogation. As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have already questioned his daughter Tina Ahuja.
When the incident happened, Govinda was preparing to travel to Kolkata for an event. According to reports, the unintentional discharge occurred because his weapon slipped out of his hands. The actor received around 10 stitches at Criti Care Hospital in Mumbai.
In a video message, Govinda thanked his fans and the medical team, saying, “With the blessings of my fans, my parents, and God, I am doing better now. I thank the doctor here, Dr. Agarwal ji. I thank all of you for your prayers.”
