Mumbai Police report that 60-year-old Bollywood actor Govinda was slightly injured by a bullet on Tuesday morning at his Juhu home when his licensed pistol misfired.
The actor was getting ready to board a flight to Kolkata when the incident happened at 4:45 a.m. According to Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha, he was home alone when the revolver slipped out of a cupboard and fired. “By God’s grace, Govinda ji sustained only a minor injury to his leg, and it wasn’t more serious,” Sinha said.
After Govinda was taken to Juhu’s Criticare Hospital, the bullet was removed safely. Medical staff reported the injury was located below his knee, and the actor is now in stable condition.
In an audio message to his fans, Govinda expressed his gratitude: “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been extracted. I thank the doctors, and your prayers have kept me safe. The blessings of my fans, parents, and my guru saved me.”
Sunita Ahuja, his wife, who was at the time in Kolkata, came back to Mumbai upon learning of the incident. Throughout her father’s treatment, Tina, their daughter, remained by his side.
Although there has not been a formal complaint filed, Mumbai Police are still looking into the accident.
