ISLAMABAD: The availability of Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 16 series, appears to have increased in Pakistan, resulting in a slight reduction in the excessive overpricing by local retailers.
Previously, there were reports of some shopkeepers selling non-PTA variants (which cannot run a SIM after two months) for as much as Rs800,000.
However, the situation seems to be improving, as popular distributors like Mercentile are now importing the iPhone 16 series for Apple fans in Pakistan, limiting the ability of small shop owners or retailers to make large, unfair profits by exploiting the absence of an official Apple store.
Several online shopping platforms have also begun offering the highly sought-after iPhone model, allowing Pakistani customers interested in the latest Apple flagship to now pay more reasonable prices for the iPhone 16 models.

Caution against JV iPhones
It is highly recommended to avoid purchasing gevey (JV) iPhones, as they are not legally recognised in Pakistan and are often blocked by network providers or the companies they were purchased from.
These JV iPhones are typically brought illegally from countries such as the United Kingdom, China, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Hong Kong.
It is important to note that Apple does not have an official store in Pakistan and does not sell its products directly in the country. Instead, Apple smartphones are distributed by authorised dealers such as Mercantile, which has yet to release its official price list for the iPhone 16 series.
