RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for a peaceful protest in the city on Saturday.
Section 144 has been imposed for two days, set to take effect on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29.
Rangers have also been deployed to ensure law and order. A notification has been sent to the federal government regarding their deployment.
The notification states that all forms of political gatherings, including sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, protests, and similar activities are prohibited. Section 144 will also apply to the possession and display of weapons in the Rawalpindi division.
Concerns have been raised about the potential arrival of armed miscreants in Rawalpindi, as indicated in the notification.
