Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was spotted at the Mumbai airport, leaving for Abu Dhabi early on Thursday to attend the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) event. Fans were ecstatic as soon as videos and images of the actor arriving went viral on social media.
In one video, Shah Rukh was seen getting out of his car while escorted by security officers and bodyguards. Fans rushed toward the actor despite his team surrounding him in a protective circle; one girl pushed through and momentarily knocked the actor down. Shah Rukh, though, maintained his composure, getting back on his feet and waving to the crowd before heading into the airport.
The actor dressed casually for his trip, wearing matching pants, a black sweatshirt, a cap, and dark sunglasses.
In response to the video, one fan tweeted, “The real star of the Indian film industry,” and another said, “It sounds scary the way some fans are screaming.” His safety was a source of concern for others, one of whom remarked, “The security should be stronger.”
Alongside Vicky Kaushal and Karan Johar, Shah Rukh will host the IIFA Awards night. His role in Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, which is set for release in December, and his next film, King, which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, are major draws for fans.
