Fire erupts from Ukrainian drone strike on Russian warehouse – HUM News


RUSSIA: A six km fire spread across Toropets, a town in Russia’s Tver region on Wednesday after a Ukrainian drone attack caused a powerful detonation, resulting in the destruction of a warehouse storing missiles, ammunition, and guided bombs. A partial evacuation of residents near the site was ordered.

The Tver region’s governor, Igor Rudenya, stated that firefighters are continuing their efforts to contain the blaze which began from falling drone wreckage. The drone attack was part of the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU), effort to reduce Russia’s missile potential and their ability to destroy Ukrainian cities according to an SBU source.

While Toropet authorities did not mention how many of the town’s 13,000 residents were being evacuated, they stated the situation was under control. Local schools and Kindergartens will remain closed on Wednesday according to Russia’s state media.

Russian officials have said that two missiles and 54 drones were destroyed across five western Russian regions overnight, with 14 being shot down in Bryansk.
