South Indian superstar turned politician, Thalapathy Vijay, has signed on for one final film before fully transitioning into politics. Following the massive success of his recent release GOAT, the Kollywood icon is preparing to wrap up his film career with his 69th film, as he sets his sights on a political future with his newly-formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Indian media outlets have reported that Vijay, who plans to leave acting for politics, has signed on for Thalapathy 69, which will be directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions. The production house confirmed the news on Friday, teasing fans with an announcement that more details about the film will be revealed on Saturday evening.
Fans, who had believed GOAT would be Vijay’s final film, were ecstatic with this unexpected development. One fan commented, “One last Dance. One more First look, 2nd look, 3rd look. One more First single. One more Audio Launch,” while another said, “One last dançe @actorvijay na.”
Reports suggest that Vijay, who earned INR200 crores for GOAT, has increased his fee to INR275 crores for this final project, making him the highest-paid actor in India, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth. Vijay’s full political career is set to begin after the completion of this film.
