Transport fares to be reduced following petrol price cut – HUM News

LAHORE: In response to recent reductions in petroleum prices, Punjab’s Transport Minister Bilal Akbar has directed the formation of special teams to oversee adjustments in transport fares.

The move aims to ensure that fare lists are clearly displayed at bus stations and other transport hubs to prevent overcharging by operators.

The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs10 per litre, while diesel prices have dropped by over Rs13 per litre. As a result, adjustments to transport fares are expected soon. Minister Akbar has highlighted the importance of these measures and has requested a detailed report on fare adjustments and enforcement actions.

The provincial minister has warned that strict actions will be taken against any transport operators found charging excess fares. This move underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness within the transport sector.

In related news, authorities in Islamabad have sealed three petrol stations and arrested their managers for halting fuel supply following the recent price cuts.

Additionally, two managers were detained for illegally selling petrol through open containers. The crackdown was conducted by the city’s Assistant Commissioner.
