ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that the proposed constitutional amendment seeks to strike a balance in the system.
Talking to the media in Islamabad, Tarar expressed optimism about the amendment, saying that they were confident of securing the necessary support.
He highlighted that the provision of speedy justice is a fundamental right of the people of Pakistan. He underscored that the proposed amendment has been long overdue and that the legislation is aimed at addressing collective issues rather than being a person-specific.
The minister also pointed out that the current judicial system often faces delays, with some cases taking decades to resolve. He stressed that the goal of the new legislation was to expedite the delivery of justice.
Tarar noted that the delay in issuing the cause list and notices hinders the judicial process as some orders are issued without issuing the cause list for hearing a case.
He said that military trials are not as swift as some court decisions. He reiterated the importance of a balanced system to ensure effective justice.
