WEB DESK: In response to the mpox outbreak, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has intensified monitoring across major airports in Pakistan.
Awareness centres have been established at Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Multan airports. Additionally, centres have been set up at Faisalabad, Sialkot, Quetta, and Skardu airports to bolster the screening process.
Over the past two days, more than 19,000 individuals arriving on international flights have been screened. Specifically, Islamabad Airport saw 40 international flights and 5,485 passengers screened. At Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, 32 international flights brought in 6,000 passengers, all of whom were screened.
At Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, 35 international flights resulted in the screening of 4,214 passengers.
Multan Airport processed 1,571 passengers from 12 international flights, while Peshawar Airport conducted screenings for 682 passengers arriving on 6 flights. Quetta Airport screened 207 passengers from international flights.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to control and prevent the spread of mpox, ensuring the safety and health of travellers.
