The Lahore High Court has received the medical report of Amina Urooj, who is accused in the kidnapping case involving writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, as reports suggested. Urooj appeared in court with her lawyer for the hearing.
On August 27, the court had requested both ultrasound and X-ray reports for Urooj. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh presided over the case, reviewing the petition filed by Urooj’s mother, Zeenat Bibi.
Dr. Faraz, accompanied by the Punjab Government Law Officer, presented the medical report to the court. The report indicates evidence of torture across 19 different areas of Urooj’s body, with prior violence noted before May 31. It also details that Urooj sustained injuries from being kicked in the stomach and experienced bleeding as a result.
The petition alleges that Urooj was subjected to severe physical and mental abuse during police remand. The petitioner claimed that when Urooj’s mother visited her in jail, she learned that Urooj had been moved to the hospital and later to the investigating officer of the Organised Crime Unit.
The petition requests a court order to produce Urooj in court and to ensure she receives medical treatment. Further hearings are scheduled for August 27.
