KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah called Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah’s remarks about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s electricity relief measures “harsh.”
The energy minster noted that Murad Ali Shah’s choice of words was “inappropriate” and suggested that his comments were misunderstood.
Nasir also stated that the Sindh government was working on a plan to reduce electricity bills.
The minister claimed the provincial government had proposed a formula for permanent relief for consumers using up to 500 units of electricity nationwide.

Murad Ali Shah had previously criticised Punjab’s announcement of a Rs14 per unit reduction for electricity users up to 500 units. He called the move “stupid” and questioned its practicality.
In response, Maryam Nawaz defended the measures. She said they include a two-month discount and a future solar programme to address high electricity costs.
The Sindh CM, in turn, countered by criticising past investments in expensive power plants and questioned the effectiveness of the proposed solar programme.
