Wheat worth Rs50m reportedly missing from gov’t warehouse – HUM News


ZHOB: Wheat sacks worth more than Rs50 million reportedly went missing from a government warehouse in Zhob district, Balochistan.

The Assistant Director of the Food Authority in Zhob reported that 4,885 sacks of wheat disappeared overnight from the warehouse.

The official indicated that soil may have been mixed with the wheat to cover up the shortfall and alter inventory records.

In response to the discovery, the in-charge of the government warehouse was arrested. A First Information Report (FIR) was also registered at the local police station.

The Balochistan Food Authority stated they were currently investigating the bizarre event to determine how the wheat was removed. The provincial food authority promised to address any discrepancies in the warehouse’s inventory management.

The missing wheat was intended for distribution through a government programme aimed at supporting local communities.

The investigation will focus on uncovering the details of the theft and examining the security measures at the warehouse.
