WEB DESK: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza undertook an official visit to Bangladesh, where he held a series of meetings with the country’s civil and military leadership, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the visit, Gen Mirza met Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division Lt Gen S.M. Kamrul Hassan. The discussions revolved around global and regional developments, as well as the evolving security environment. Both sides emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral defence and security cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing military-to-military ties.
Gen Mirza highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s longstanding brotherly relations with Bangladesh, expressing hope that bilateral ties would continue to grow based on mutual respect and sovereign equality.
The CJCSC also visited the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty and students. The Bangladeshi civil and military leadership praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
At the Bangladesh Armed Forces Headquarters, Gen Mirza was presented with a guard of honour.
