Saudi AI firm Humain unveils 6GW data center, new AI OS plans – HUM News

RIYADH: Saudi artificial intelligence company Humain announced plans to develop roughly 6 gigawatts of data centre capacity and introduced a new AI-focused operating system, Humain 1, CEO Tareq Amin said on Monday at the Fortune conference in Riyadh.

The move positions Humain at the forefront of a global shift from traditional app-driven computing to AI agent-powered workflows. The company’s new platform and hardware aim to reduce the cost of high-performance computing for educational institutions and enterprises through subscription and rental models.

Earlier this month, Humain had unveiled its AI agent-powered computer targeted at access costs reduction and promotion of educational devices.

Humain is building an ecosystem where intelligent agents manage tasks directly, eliminating the need for app-based interactions, the company said. The company’s agent-first approach is embodied in Humain One OS, which replaces conventional windows and icons with a natural language interface that allows AI agents to handle entire processes on behalf of users.

Humain has also introduced Horizon Pro, an AI-first workstation laptop built on the Snapdragon X Elite platform. With 32 GB RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and over 18 hours of battery life, the device features an “Agent Key” for instant access to AI agents, promising up to 40% lower energy consumption than comparable systems.

The company plans to roll out pilot programs for students, distributing 500 Horizon devices to support early adoption. Amin emphasized that Humain’s ecosystem will also include a marketplace for AI agents, signaling a potential shift in the broader software landscape.

The announcement comes amid a global AI infrastructure boom. Just last month, Nvidia and OpenAI unveiled a $100 billion partnership to expand AI computing capacity with 10-gigawatt data centres, highlighting the intensifying competition for AI dominance.

Humain’s expansion aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to become a regional AI hub. Analysts note that building such a massive data centre footprint and AI ecosystem will require significant investment and developer support, but the potential payoff could reshape digital workflows in education, business, and government.
